她躲過一劫;
雖然Maud 為了讓 Tom 有伴, 計畫以毒酒毒死Cathcart,
而Maud 當場自己先喝,也因此毒發身亡,
但是Cathcart 撐著最後一口氣,對Tom動之以情
動之以理, Tom 飛奔拿解藥 給Cathcart 喝下.

Cathcart說That’s more than your headmaster does.
我解讀是Cathcart如是說 是因為她剛經過校長時
校長無視她的剛經過,還議論Cathcart 沒幫到什麼忙
校長覺得Cathcart 的精神狀況不佳
還舉證說 有篇研究提及
女人的心智成長 並不能跟得上她所受的教育
