Not long ago
i read a text from movie magazine in Taiwan about Ang Lee's film.
Said that Brokeback Mountain was not much Ang Lee style,
and worried about he might loose his style in Hollywood.
Yesterday i watched his film , tried to figure out if the comment is true.
But what i have seen still the Ang Lee i have known before which is full of compression of feeling.

From all the past movies he has made, compression is always exist.
“Pushing Hands” was talking about compression of senior people.
Eat, drink man woman talking about compression of parents and children.
The wedding banquet talking about the compressed love of man and man,
and also father and son's gender gap.
Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon again is compression of unspeakable love.
Sense and sensibility talking about compression of custom, struggle
between accomplishment and passion.

What i would like speak more here is the nature presentation of man and man.
The performance of the two actors was natured without any strange feelings
When you watch the action of the two, was just like two puppies playing.

Another thing i want to mention about is Prejudice
No matter from education or religion reasons,
People usually to be taught man and woman's love is nature
Straight people cannot really understand that the love
between man and man or woman and woman is just like the love they know
in everyday life.
And also might think that gay love is a sin, it is not allowed in society.
Sometimes you kill people with weapon, sometimes just as easy as a word.

Prejudice might kill people.

Subjective judgment and selfish might become a knife cause death.

People usually judge others harder than what they look at themselves with reason of moral mostly.
But what was being ignored was human being does not have right to judge other human beings

You are standing the same level as creature in the world, the same as other animals.
To judge people wrong when his life is different than your life ?
People usually limit by the mirror they look at themselves, but ignore what is
another side of mirror ?

This is a very big and very small world.
So big that you cannot see though all the people's lives, that every different group is got different way to live.
So small that you watch the same stories showing everyday, the same stories in every family, the same feelings of you and others, the same thought you have and others.

i think what Ang Lee tried to tell us is
“Do not view things with subjective judgment and prejudice
Being more humble to see everything, to cover everything,
Catch the good things of people; do not focus on the things you think is bad or wrong.
Because you think is wrong might be just human nature.
Human being was over-evaluated; marry to one person with royalty always,
Being straight, a perfect family, nice kids and successful career.
But that is just an ideal world human beings expect themselves to build, real human being.

Human is a kind of fool creature to make a target which is hard to touch,
and cause problem for themselves.
That is different thing between human being and other animals.
In nature, animals only get problem from other animals,
Animals themselves do not cause problem themselves, like to dig a hole
and jump into it; asking for perfect life when that is not possible in nature rule.
Making themselves painful and full suffering.

The worse thing is that they even want to make other people right.
To enlarge other people's defects and ignore their own defects, or to pick up every problem with subjective judgment.
But they forget that that is their biggest defect, which is out of nature.

Ang Lee's movies has a kind of power which is very tender, mild, touchable, and
unspeakable. The power pushing you to think inside of yourself, to change
the angel of the view you always focus on. The power bring you the where
he wants you to go, to know the world he wants to show you.
Insist his ideal and view genteelly and strongly, bring you to the location
he wants you to see.

i got so much wisdom and nutrition from his movies,
also thank him for the big and tender pushing hands.

i am from Tainan, Taiwan, hometown of Ang Lee,
Tainan is a place always having warm sun light,
weather mild and live is slow there.
There is an old movie Theater in Tainan, very old history,
very low price, with 4 bucks you can watch two movies.
i enjoyed lot of wonderful time in the theater.
Ang Lee was visiting the theater serial times after being famous.
He does not forget who brings him to know to amazing world of movie.
When i watch his films, always making me feel sunshine of Tainan,
Light and warm you up in every corner, forget you not....

well, I don't know much about Ang Lee, but I think no matter what kind of new material he'd added to his movie would always makes his product special in his way of expression. I saw several of his movies and enjoyed them a lot. The movie that I consider as a good movie is one that could touch my heart! I'm very happy for Ang Lee and proud of him to be world famous director simply because he deserve it!
